Susan Jones

Principal

Susan’s primary area of practice is competition law, with a focus on merger clearances, competition and regulatory advisory work and ACCC investigations. She has extensive experience with multi-jurisdictional matters and in pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

Prior to joining Talbot Sayer, Susan was a partner in the Competition and Regulation group of Gilbert + Tobin, where her practice included advising on ACCC investigations and achieving merger clearances for Elanco’s acquisition of Bayer’s animal health business, Mylan’s merger with Upjohn to form Viatris, Culligan’s acquisition of Waterlogic, PAG’s acquisition of Patties Foods and Vesco Foods, and Cisco’s acquisition of Splunk.

She was formerly head of the global antitrust practice at Novartis in Switzerland. There she led the merger clearance process for Novartis’s acquisition of eye care company Alcon and Novartis’s series of transformational deals with GSK and Lilly. Prior to Novartis, Susan was a senior associate at Allen & Overy in Brussels and a senior investigator at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in Brisbane.

Susan is a member of the Mergers Working Group of the International Bar Association’s Antitrust Section, and the Global Competition Review’s editorial board.

Susan was recognised in the sixth edition of Women in Antitrust 2021 by the Global Competition Review and profiled in the Global Competition Review’s Corporate Counsel 2019 quadrennial list of the top inhouse antitrust lawyers in the world.
